We are proud of the high-quality programs offered and we support students to achieve success through our site improvement plan. Our 2022-2024 focus areas are Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Performing Arts, Health and PE and Japanese are specialist subjects at Dernancourt School. We value highly the diversity of our students and their families and we celebrate through learning in class and by participating in special events including Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week and Harmony Day.

We believe that OSHC is a valuable and integral part of Dernancourt School and our local community.
As part of learning at Dernancourt School, our students regularly utilise a range of digital technologies. To support this, Dernancourt School has a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. Our students benefit greatly through the purchase of a laptop to support their learning in the classroom and at home.
This site is an online collection of education materials and has been developed by department curriculum managers and expert teachers.
The site provides learning materials and activities across all learning areas in the Early Years Framework and the Australian Curriculum. There are materials that are appropriate for families as well as resources that are more targeted towards teachers.
The new easy-to-use website supports:
Your child is using Scholastic Literacy Pro in years 3-6 to support his/her independent reading.
One of the greatest gifts we can give children is to instil a love of reading. It is not enough to simply teach children to read. We need to provide them with a variety of literature that will make them wonder, make them laugh and take them to other worlds.
At school the students sit their Literacy Pro Test – this provides them with their Lexile level. The Lexile level helps them find the right books when browsing the library and choosing books they want to read. Once your child has a Lexile level and commences reading Lexiled books, they can access and complete online quizzes at home by logging into the Scholastic website using their Username & Password already given to them at school.
Literacy Pro is a great way for teachers and parents to monitor and motivate independent reading. You can see their reading record, how many words they have read, and celebrate when they reach a certificate level for completing quizzes on the books they are reading.
You can now pay your school fees via the new BPoint payment system.
Our school currently has funding from the Federal Government for a Christian Pastoral Support Worker (DEEWR).
